You can now RECORD with Propellerhead
One of the most commonly agreed short-comings of Propellerhead’s Reason is the inablity to record audio directly into this mighty program. It’s never bothered me as I’ve always ReWired Reason into Cubase, and well, actually don’t have a need to record external instruments. But Reason devotee’s have been requesting this for years, and for a long time it appeared this request was falling on deaf ears (maybe the onset of tinnitus in the upper ranks of management ?).
Well apparently not…because Propellerhead Software have answered with Record – a standalone recording application that “combines effortless recording and a stunning software mixer console with a limitless rack of audio processing gear that builds itself or can be infinitely customized.” While Properllerhead say their new application is ” a whole new take on music recording” , critascism is already hitting music sites (grumblers tend to be more vocal;-), in particular their decision to use-up one of your valuable USB ports with a copy protection dongle… which of course didn’t stop the crack-heads cracking Steinberg’s Cubase. But it’s early days and it’s not widely available yet so the verdict is still out.
